Today, October 20, British Columbia will be conducting the first province-wide earthquake drill. The event, called the Great British Columbia ShakeOut will be observed in several municipalities in the province including Delta. The point of the ShakeOut is to teach residents how to protect themselves and their loved ones during an earthquake. We all witnessed the devastation of the Japanese earthquake and resulting tsunami several month ago and need to accept the reality that it could happen on the west coast of Canada just as easily. The key to survival is being prepared.

The efficiency of brochures and flyers in advertizing cannot be under estimated. They are easy to create, easy to send out and easy for people to pick up at the grocery store, library or local community centre. The Sustainable Gardening Workshops brochure created by the Corporation of Delta is a good example of a well designed brochure. Firms who specialize in brochure printing try to create products that will stand out but will also educate.
